Former boxer Terry Spinks MBE died this week; his death was announced on Thursday.  Although he made his name as a boxer, winning gold at the 1956 Australian summer Olympics and winning the British featherweight championship in 1960, he had also been an apprentice jockey.  He fought in 49 professional bouts in his career and won 41 of them; Spinks was awarded the MBE in 2002.

At a press conference this week, Pep Guardiola announced that he is to resign as Barcelona manager.  He will leave his position in June; Tito Vilanova will become the new manager.

Chelsea faced Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon.  The match went ahead without the handshake which would usually proceed a football match.  Chelsea beat QPR six-one with Torres scoring a hat-trick.
