The death of Venezuela President Hugo Chávez has been announced, A hero to some and villain to others, Chávez was aged fifty eight when he died.
It is well documented that Chávez had been battling cancer for the past two years and he had recently undergone more treatment. Chávez had not been seen in public in recent months.
Chávez was known for his reforms, which were popular with some, but not with others. He was also famously outspoken and once dubbed George W. Bush a “donkey”.
Chávez was first elected as president in 1999 and later won a second term.
Thousands have gathered in the street to mourn the death of their leader and there will be seven deaths of mourning to mark the passing of the president.
